A roofing canvassing app earns its keep in the first hour after a storm, when you need to know which streets took hail, who has already been knocked, and which rep is where. The right one also makes a slow Tuesday productive. This guide gives you a checklist for judging any door knocking app, then compares three of them using their own published information.

Quick answer. The best roofing canvassing app in 2026 depends on team size and what it must connect to. SalesRabbit is the dedicated platform with a published price from $59 per user a month. SPOTIO suits larger field teams and quotes by demo. Cedar House Field costs $25 per rep a month and feeds its own CRM or yours.

Cedar House Field is our product, and Cedar House publishes this guide. The checklist applies to any app, including ours. Prices and features for SalesRabbit and SPOTIO were read on their own websites on September 30, 2026.

What is the best roofing canvassing app in 2026?

The best roofing canvassing app is the one your reps open at every door without being told to, because it makes their day easier and their pay clearer. An app that managers love and reps avoid produces a map full of gaps.

So judge it twice. Once as the owner, for territory control and reporting. Once as the rep standing on a porch in August with one hand free.

The checklist: ten things a door knocking app has to do

Use these ten checks on every app you try. Each one takes a few minutes in a trial, and together they separate a real field tool from a map with pins.

  1. Log a door in two taps. Time a rep doing it. If it takes longer than knocking, it will be skipped.
  2. Prove the knock happened. GPS and a time on every door, so a logged street was a walked street.
  3. Show storm history on the map. Hail size and date by address, so a rep can say when the roof was hit.
  4. Assign and protect territory. Two reps should never burn the same street on the same day.
  5. Plan a route. Pick a set of houses and get a sensible walking or driving order.
  6. Work with a weak signal. Neighborhoods after a storm often have poor coverage. Ask what happens offline.
  7. Tell the rep who lives there. Owner name and contact details at the door, and what each lookup costs.
  8. Set the appointment on the spot. With the closer's calendar visible, so nobody is double booked.
  9. Send the lead to your CRM by itself. No evening of retyping. Ask exactly how the connection works with the CRM you use.
  10. Give managers and reps the same scoreboard. Doors, conversations, appointments and sales, per rep, per day.

Two of the three apps here publish a price per user. The table shows what each pricing page printed.

What does canvassing software cost a ten rep team?

For ten reps, the published monthly prices work out to $250 for Cedar House Field, $590 for SalesRabbit Team and $750 for SalesRabbit Pro billed monthly, before any add ons. That is simple multiplication from the table above, and it is the number to budget against.

Add ons change the picture. Weather for ten reps on SalesRabbit adds $310 a month at the listed $31 per user. On Cedar House Field, storm maps are in the seat, and owner lookups are paid per house at 29 cents, so a team that looks up 1,000 new houses in a month adds $290.

The comparison is not only price. SalesRabbit's plans include tools that Field does not try to match, and annual billing lowers its Pro rate. Price the exact plan and add ons you would actually switch on, for the number of reps you actually have.

SalesRabbit: the dedicated canvassing platform

SalesRabbit is a field sales platform used well beyond roofing, and it is the dedicated canvassing product in this guide with a public price. Its Team plan at $59 per user a month lists advanced canvassing, route planning, rep location tracking, digital sales tools, a sketch board and analytics.

The Pro plan at $75 per user a month billed monthly adds custom fields, map overlays, a customer locator, file attachments on leads, gamification, API and integrations, and a scheduler for setters and closers. Weather data is a separate add on at $31 per user a month.

Where it is the better choice: a canvassing organization with setters and closers that wants gamification and a mature platform, and that already has a CRM it likes. Add up the plan and the add ons per rep before you compare.

SPOTIO: territory control for larger field teams

SPOTIO sells field sales software to both business and consumer sales teams, and its consumer plan names roofing, solar and home improvement. That plan lists territory creation and management, location tracking, offline access, activity tracking, custom reports, leaderboards and calendar integration.

Pricing is per user and is not published. Every plan includes an implementation manager, and a dedicated customer success manager comes with 25 licenses or more, which tells you the size of team it is built around.

Where it is the better choice: a larger company with multiple territories and managers who need hierarchy and permissions. A five rep crew may find it more than they need.

Cedar House Field: canvassing that feeds the CRM

Cedar House Field is our app. It costs $25 per rep a month, with every feature in every seat, and it was built so that a knock becomes a lead, an estimate and a job without anyone retyping it.

What a rep gets: storm maps with real hail history, a pin for every door with GPS and a time, routes through picked houses, coaching on the conversation at the door, and an appointment set on the spot. What a manager gets: a scorecard for each rep and a daily Manager Report. Two add ons are priced in plain numbers: owner lookup at 29 cents a house, free for a house your team already looked up, and permit history at $5 a month.

Leads flow into Cedar House Stack, our CRM, where they become estimates and jobs. If you already use another CRM, Field sends leads out through an open API and webhooks. The roofing edition of our front page shows how the two fit together.

Should your canvassing app be separate from your CRM?

Keep them separate only if the connection between them is automatic and tested. The cost of two systems is not the second subscription. It is the leads that get stuck between them.

  • One vendor for both. Fewer moving parts. The knock, the appointment and the signed contract share a record, and a rep's pay can be traced back to the door.
  • Best of each, connected. More choice. It works well when the canvassing app has a real integration with your CRM and someone on your team owns it.
  • Two systems, no connection. Avoid this. Somebody will be retyping leads at nine at night, and some will be missed.

If you are choosing the CRM at the same time, our roofing CRM comparison and our AccuLynx alternatives guide cover that side, and the contractor CRM guide covers other trades.

Who should choose something other than Cedar House Field

Cedar House Field is newer than the other two, and it is not the pick for everyone.

  • A large sales organization that runs on gamification. SalesRabbit lists it on its Pro plan and has built its platform around competitive field teams.
  • A company with many territories and layers of managers. SPOTIO's territory hierarchies and permissions are built for that.
  • A team that sells something other than home services. Both competitors serve many industries. Field is built for contractors.

How to run a two week canvassing app trial

Run the trial with real doors, and measure what the reps do, not what they say.

  1. Days 1 and 2. Set up two territories and put the app on three reps' phones. Use your strongest rep, your newest rep and your biggest skeptic.
  2. Days 3 to 7. Knock normally. Every door goes in the app. Managers do not remind anyone.
  3. Day 8. Count doors logged against doors you know were knocked. A gap means friction.
  4. Days 9 to 13. Set appointments through the app and follow three leads all the way into your CRM.
  5. Day 14. Ask each rep one question: would you keep using it if nobody made you? Then check the price per rep with every add on you turned on.

Door knocking app questions from roofing sales managers

How much does a door knocking app cost per rep?

Published prices on September 30, 2026 were $25 per rep a month for Cedar House Field and $59 to $75 per user a month for SalesRabbit's Team and Pro plans billed monthly, with add ons such as weather at $31 per user. SPOTIO prices per user by demo. Multiply by your rep count and include every add on you would switch on.

Is there a free door knocking app for roofers?

Some apps advertise free tiers, and most paid ones offer a free trial. Cedar House Field has a 30 day trial with no card. Before relying on a free app for a storm, check the limits on reps and leads, whether it shows hail history, and whether your leads can be exported or sent to your CRM.

Does a canvassing app show where hail hit?

Some do, and it is sold in different ways. Cedar House Field includes storm maps with hail history in every $25 seat. SalesRabbit lists Weather as an add on at $31 per user a month. Whatever you choose, check a storm date you remember against the map for a street you know, so you trust it before a rep quotes it at a door.

Can a canvassing app track my reps' location?

Yes, most can, and the better question is how it is used. Location stamped on each logged door proves the street was walked and settles pay disputes. Continuous tracking is more sensitive. Tell your reps exactly what is recorded and when, put it in writing, and check your state's rules on tracking employees and contractors.
